Abstract

In Metro Railways R.C.C. construction is used for constructing dependable, durable, and cost effective infrastructure is provided. The Metro RCC work is properly designed, constructed and intelligently maintained, with improvement in knowledge about design methods and behaviour of material and optimised design methods are now being used for RCCSuperstructures and UndergroundTunnel work. The control on construction quality is very rigid as expected indesign part as compared to routine RCC works in buildings. With the result that no major complaints of water seepage or leakage due to poor RCC work is reported from any Metro work since past 15 years in India.Still in our country the concept of quality control & quality assurance has not achieved its status as an essential expert service, like in foreign countries where this is the most powerful and highest paid team at site whereas in India the quality control is a job carried out like a routine by the lowest technical representative at site and- some time by a semi-skilled mate.

Abstract

A three-input DC–DC boost converter is proposed in this paper. The two unidirectional input power ports and a bidirectional port interface with the proposed converter to achieve a unified storage structure. This converter is interesting for hybridizing alternative energy sources such as photovoltaic source, battery1, and battery2. Supplying the output load, charging or discharging the battery2 can be made by the PV and the battery individually or simultaneously. The proposed structure utilizes only four power switches that are independently controlled with four different duty ratios. Utilizing those duty ratios, tracking the maximum power of the PV source, setting the battery1, controlling the battery2 power, and regulating the output voltage are provided. Depending on utilization state of the battery2, three different power operation modes are defined for the converter. In order to design the converter control system, small signal model is obtained in each operation mode. Due to interactions of converter control loops, separate closed controllers are designed with the help of decoupling network. The validity and control performance of the proposed converters are verified by simulation and experimental results under different operation conditions.

Abstract

A novel non-isolated three-port converter (NITPC) is used in this project. The purpose of this topology is to integrate a renewable energy and DC bus, instead of the widely reported consuming load, with a photovoltaic (PV)-battery system. Conventional methods require either a separate dc-dc converter to process the reversible power flow or employing an isolated three-port converter (TPC) which allows bi-directional power flow between any two ports. However, these methods require many switches which increases the converter size and control complexity. This project presents a compact but fully functional design by combining and integrating basic converters to form a simplified single inductor converter structure while keeping minimum number of switches. The resultant converter is fully reconfigurable that all possible power flow combinations among the sources and load are achieved through different switching patterns. In existing system, the single source (PV) will be used. So, the unidirectional power flow only possible. But In our proposed system Hybrid energy will be used. So, if any case in the system will be stable.

Abstract

An Edge detection algorithm is used in Image processing in order to reduce the data to be processed. It is widely used in various real time applications such as traffic signaling, number plate detection, tumor detection etc. So to use it in real time we require hardware implementation of it. In this paper we have presented details about how to implement an Edge detection algorithm by loading an image into FPGA using HDL codes. An image is loaded into FPGA kit through few ways which is mentioned in this paper and the most effective way is utilized in the end through which there is computational ease and less memory requirement. The proposed work presents implementation of edge detection algorithm in FPGA chip named MIMAS V2 SPARTAN XC6SLX9 CSG324 FPGA that can process different grey scale image with the help of Sobel Operator.

Abstract

In present study energy and exergy analysis has been applied to baggasse based 20 MW steam power plant. The energy losses at various locations in power plant have been calculated by applying energy balance. Rate of exergy destruction or irreversibility in different components of power plant are calculated by applying exergy balance. It is found that energy losses in boiler and condenser are equal and around 95% of total energy losses in power plant. The irreversibility rates of the boiler are found to be much higher than the irreversibility rates of the other components. First law efficiency and second law efficiency of boiler are calculated. The changes of the irreversibility rates of boiler with the ambient temperature (for range 278-313K) are studied. As the ambient temperature is increased from 278 to 313 K, the irreversibility rates of the boiler also increase. The calculations for efficiencies of steam power plant based on first law of thermodynamics and second law of thermodynamics have been calculated at ambient temperature of 298 K and values are found to be 23.82% and 19.48% respectively.

Abstract

Aim of this project is to simulate a Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC), which can be connected in threephase three-wire electrical power distribution system (EPDS) for performing the series-parallel power-line conditioning.Using a single to three-phase UPQC (UPQC 1Ph-to-3Ph), this uses for the applications in rural or remote areas in which, only EPDS with single wire earth return (SWER) are accessible to the consumer. Since the use of three-phase loads is increasing in these areas, it is difficult to access the three-phase distribution system. This UPQC employs a dual compensation strategy, such that the controlled quantities are always sinusoidal. Series converter is controlled to act as a sinusoidal current source whereas the parallel converter operates as a sinusoidal voltage source. The system can able to suppress grid voltage harmonics, as well as to compensate for other disturbances such as voltage sags. Thus, a 3P3W system with regulated and balanced sinusoidal voltages with low harmonic contents is provided for single and three-phase loads.Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) based controllers are implemented to control the input currents and the output voltages of the UPQC.To reduce the THD further, ANN is replaced by PI in the above method. The present work studies the compensation principle and different control strategies based on PI & ANN controller. The control strategies are modeled using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Abstract

Concrete is largest produced material in the construction industry and as per WHO concrete is the largest consumed material by human beings after food and water. About 75% of the concrete is composed of aggregates and because of huge demand of concrete all over the world, availability of natural aggregates is becoming scarce. Civil engineers have always been looking for an alternative for the use of more ecofriendly and easily available materials as a replacement to conventional constituents in concrete. Concrete industry has always welcomed the use of various industrial waste materials as a replacement to these constituents since, otherwise such industrial waste need to be disposed in the form of landfills causing enormous amount of land pollution. This project presents the experimental investigation carried out to evaluate the effect of partial replacement of fine aggregate in concrete by steel slag which is waste product generated during the production of steel. The use of steel slag reduces the need of natural rock as constructional material, hence preserving our natural rock resources besides provides an environmental friendly option of concrete production. Steel slag mainly consists of calcium carbonate and is produced as a by-product of oxidation process in steel industry.

Abstract

In wireless network application are built and used in various domain like health care system, education, utilities, field sales, public network, etc…the critical factor in wireless network are energy and quality video delivery. The biggest challenges in wireless network is handling video data. The quality of video data application mainly depends on delivery rate i.e without delay and error rate. E-Mesh, an energy-aware QoS ensured wireless routing algorithm is proposed that utilize the energy levels at each mesh router. the factor like current traffic load amount and distance between mesh routers for the selection of routers and are considered to enable the video delivery over optimal route. If the video content is large and if the same path is used for prolong then it leads to energy inefficiency of the nodes in the specific path. To overcome such problem, video content is sent simultaneously via multiple paths which are efficient in terms of energy, load and distance. so a new modified routing algorithm(MRP) is proposed . That in turn decrease end to end of video delivery with minimized error rate.
