Abstract
Helical coiled springs are used as an integral part of many mechanical systems. Helical spring is also used in several industrial applications like balancing, brakes, vehicles suspensions in order to satisfy required functions. It applies forces, store or absorb energy, provide the mechanical system with the flexibility and maintain a force or a pressure. A mechanical spring is defined as an elastic body which has the primary function to deflect or distort under load, and to return to its original shape when the load is removed. The main objective of this review paper is to analyze various types of methods, formulas and theories used for the calculation of different stresses in helical coil spring. Abstract
Ferro cement is a versatile construction material formed by using hydraulic cement mortar into closely spaced layers of a small sized wire mesh. The mesh may be of metallic or other materials. It has a high tensile strength to properties and predict flexural behaviour of Ferro cement laminates by replacing cement with industrial wastes to some extent. Portland cement weight ratio better cracking resistance behaviour when compared to reinforced concrete. The main aim of this research work is to increase the normal beam strength and also extend the old beam life span by using Ferro cement laminate with effective utilization of fly ash and silica fume are optimum weight of cement. The flexural characteristics of various specimens were obtained experimentally. The specimens are reinforced with different layer of chicken mesh, and formed by different replacement proportion. Abstract
Corrosion of steel in reinforced concrete structures is one of the biggest challenges faced by the civil construction industry todays. In reinforced concrete structures, corrosion of steel reinforcement due to adverse environment effect considerably reduces the durability and life span of these structures. To overcome this corrosion problems, many new techniques have been tried and found to be either expensive or ineffective. Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material in the form of solid bars has been successfully tried as a substitute for steel reinforced in concrete structures. FRP materials are anticorrosive, have low weight to strength ratio and are used for various modern engineering applications. Research has carried out to study the behavior of FRP reinforced concrete beams. However,very little effort has been taken to study the behavior of reinforced concrete [RC] beams reinforced with FRP rebars. This work is an attempt to study the behavior of RC beams with glass fiber reinforced polymer [GFRP] web reinforcement .A concrete beam reinforced with FRP is vulnerable to brittle failure under load condition as , individually, both concrete and FRP have the tendency for brittle failure under loading conditions. Abstract
Concrete is the most widely used construction material across the world. Mainly fibres are provide in concrete means of arresting crack growth. Short discontinuous fibres have the advantage of being uniformly mixed and dispersed throughout the concrete. Two fibres namely steel fibre and polypropylene fibre are used in this investigation. Polypropylene fibre having low modulus, light density and not susceptible to corrosion and steel fibre increases ductility, toughness and impact resistance. Polypropylene fibre is good in preventing micro cracks while steel fibre is reliable in preventing macro cracks in the concrete. In this paper an investigation is made to find the effect of polypropylene fibre by varying the proportions as 0.3%,0.4%along with0.75% steel fibres. Compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength are the various parameters were investigated. Abstract
Based on trends in outdoor eating activities and the phenomenon of social media users, the objectives of the study are; 1) Mapping the distribution of the location of tweets with the keyword "eat" to choose the location of opening a restaurant, 2) Selecting the closest location and tweets from Budi Luhur University Jakarta. The sample is obtained from Twitter data on January 1, 2019 - January 4, 2019, with a maximum location point of 20 KM from Jakarta's Budi Luhur University. This study used the R Studio tool and the programming language R with the main approach is to focus on real-time analysis rather than historical datasets. The information generated display the distribution of the mining from the closest to the furthest to the most number of tweets. This research can be used to assist entrepreneurs in making decisions regarding the location of opening a restaurant business. Abstract
Human behaviour is a major contributor of Manufacturing Industry revealed by many occupational safeties literatures. The presence of good safety behaviour does reflect good safety compliance as well as Life Saves. Safety issue cannot be tackle effectively without interference of employers with a particular pattern of behaviours as important criteria needed to change employee's behaviours. Thus, the primary objective of this study is to identify employers’ behavioural safety compliance factors contribute to encourage employees’ towards behavioural safety compliance. This paper is an initial study with the hope that the finding will leads the establishment of safety indicators for behavioural safety compliance in the construction industry. Life Saving Behaviour (LSB) is the application of science of behavior change to real world safety problem. "A process that creates a safety partnership between management and employees that continually focuses people's attentions and actions on theirs,and others, daily safety behavior. "BBS "focuses on what people do, analyzes why they do it, and then applies a research-supported intervention strategy to improve what people do".At its very core BBS is based on a larger scientific field called organizational behavior management. In a safety management system based upon the hierarchy of hazard control, LSB may be applied to internalize hazard avoidance strategies or administrative controls (including use of personal protective equipment), but should not be used in preference to the implementation of reasonably practicable safety measures further up the hierarchy.. Abstract
At present the drilling process we used do not support an additional degree of freedom apart from hand drill at larger scale and also caused various problems. Some parts cannot drill due to small work space between drill bit and work piece. So here we propose a 360 degree flexible drill that can be mounted on a table or wall and can be used to drill holes horizontally, vertically or even upside down. So this make it possible for easy drilling in even complicated parts and surfaces. Abstract
The overall vision for this research is to optimize a cost and space-effective biological nutrient removal (BNR), Activated Sludge handling system (Granular Activated carbon, Microbial Absorption) to remove nitrogen and other minerals and wastes from effluent for water reuse. The ultimate goal is to protect natural water resources and reduce energy consumption in wastewater treatment. Ammonia/nitrate, heavy metals,BOD, COD, TSS pollution of surface water and groundwater has been a significant problem. The deteriorated natural water resource is the main obstacle for water reuse necessary to save water consumption. Nitrification/denitrification in biological wastewater treatment is the approach commonly used to remove nitrogen from wastewater. However, this process needs large amounts of space, long treatment time, and has a high operational cost, and the performance is not stable. It is critical to develop an innovative cost- and space-effective process in order to solve low nitrogen removal efficiency, and if possible, to provide high effluent quality for water reclamation..
