Abstract
This design parameters analysis of a compression testing machine is performed to establish the effectiveness of the machine. The designed parameters of the fabricated in-house compression testing machine are analysed for material testing to ascertain the capability of the machine to withstand the work requirements under the operational conditions and service areas since it is operated manually, hence, can be used effectively by operators of the industries in local and rural areas where there is no electricity and in urban areas where the tariff for electricity consumption is very high. The key principal units of the machine include the top middle and bottom plate, hydraulic jack, dial gauge, support bracket, fluid pipe, and wheels. A review of similar works by others was performed with the Nigerian industrial standards of NIS 87:2000 and NIS 74:1976 for blocks and clay bricks respectively as the benchmark. The compression principles were applied in this study for the determination of force required by the hydraulic Jack, pressure, and the force acting on the frame supports. The performance of the in-house compression machine was validated against the performance of a standard machine and the results were in good agreement, matching trends and profiles of the testing samples of both analyses. The Design Parameters Analysis for the Manufacturing of an
Orifice Plate flow Rig
-
Ekong, Godwin I
Abstract
An orifice plate flow rig for mass flow rate measurement and control is under investigation and the design of an in-house orifice plate flow rig is being analysed to ascertain the manufacturing equipment, rig dimensions, and fluid flow parameters necessary for the manufacturing of the flow rig capable of measuring a mass flow rate of 5 kg/s. Therefore, the design parameters analysis for the manufacturing of an orifice plate flow Rig is presented. The orifice plate rig is designed and adapted in such a way that the flow intake unit and the orifice unit carried out work simultaneously thereby measuring the flow rate, enhancing Reynolds number analysis and other flow properties. The key principal units of the orifice plate flow rig are the compressor section, laminar flow element, butterfly valve, control valves, rotameter, orifice plates, Venturi, refrigerator dryer, an upstream development length of 14 equivalent diameter pipe length, and 2-inch pipe dimensions designed and incorporated for efficient operation, ease of assembly, and disassembly for efficient maintenance. Bernoulli’s principle and Continuity equation were applied in this study. With an orifice upstream pipe designed diameter of 254 mm, upstream pressure of 3 bars gauge with an inlet temperature of 433K, and a mass flow rate of 5 kg/s, the analysis indicates an orifice area of 0.0285 m 2 and a pipe area of 0.0507 m2 respectively are capable for this flow rig, with a flow density of 3.16 kg/m3 , the flow velocity of 31. 26 m/s, absolute viscosity of fluid of 2.457 x 10-5 kg/m s, and Reynolds number of 1019418. Further analyses were carried out, which shows that an increase in the mass flow rate through an orifice plate flow rig will increase the flow velocity, Reynolds number, and differential pressure, but decreases the downstream pressure. Hence, an increase in the Reynolds number decreases the coefficient of discharge and increases differential pressure, thereby, increasing the flow rate. This study is to assist in the calibration of orifice plates for mass flow measurement and control. Abstract
The ability to express ourselves using gestures and words is a great treasure for mankind. However, there are some unfortunate people deprived of this ability, hence creating a communication gap between them and normal human beings. The underlying reason for this gap is that while deaf and mute persons make use of sign language to communicate among themselves, normal people are either reluctant to learn it or are unable to comprehend the same.Technology is our best asset to bridge this gap. In this paper, we will be discussing the linguistics of sign language, analysing dif erent sign languages, and certain features of their respective datasets and surveying some of the existing research solutions Keyword: Sign Language; Survey; Classifiers; Feature Extractor; datasets; linguistics; HMM; AdaBoost; SVM; HoG; ANN × ![]() Sai Yerunkar , Sahil Dhapare , Priyanka Godbole A Comprehensive Survey Analyzing Research Solutions developed for Speech Impaired Persons Vol. 9 - Issue 3- 2023 , International Journal of Engineering and Techniques (IJET) , ISSN: 2395 - 1303 , www.ijetjournal.org × |

AUDIO AND TEXT TRANSMISSION USING LI-FI TECHNOLOGY
-

Abstract
Li-Fi stands for Light-Fidelity. The technology is very new and was proposed by the German physicist Herald Haas in 2011. Li-Fi provides transmission of data through illumination by sending data through an LED light bulb that varies in intensity faster than human eye can follow. The term Li-Fi refers to visible light communication (VLC) technology that uses as medium to deliver high-speed communication in a manner similar to Wi-Fi. Li-Fi provides better bandwidth, efficiency, availability and security than Wi-Fi. Li-fi is a technology that makes the use of LED light which helps in transmission of the audio and text signal much faster and flexible than data that can be transmitted through WI-FI. In Li-Fi, the data is transmitted in several bit-streams through high-speed flickering of the LED bulb and decoded on the receiver side which consists of a photo- detector. This happens in the form of a binary transmission of data, where ‘0’ is the LED in its ‘off- state’ and ‘1’ is the LED in its ‘on-state’. In this paper, we use this concept to transmit data to demonstrate the use-cases and the possible impact it can have in the ever- growing field of communication. In this paper, we transmit two types of data i.e Audio and Text using Li-Fi. Abstract
This is the 108 paper in a series of research papers exploring the history of mechanical engineering during the Ancient Egyptian era. The paper investigates a new archaeological subject called ‘civilization rights’ aiming at preserving ancient civilizations anywhere specially the ancient Egyptian civilization. The paper investigates nine ‘civilization rights’: stopping tomb robbery, stopping antiquities smuggling, antiquities dedication by high officials, education and edification of archaeological guards, drying up sources of illegal weapons, dismantling all antiquities theft gangs, establishment of a special heritage court, stopping unfair excavation contracts and stopping attack on existing Egyptian monuments.
